Dr. Gary Boyd Robnett (Buddy), 84, passed away October 4, 2024, at Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma, Washington. His wife of 46 years, Nancy, was at his side.
Buddy was born January 23, 1940, in Walnut Grove, Missouri. After attending Southwest Missouri State, he graduated from The University of Missouri School of Medicine. He served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He was the head flight surgeon of the 164th Aviation Group while serving in Vietnam. He completed his residency in radiology at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, Colorado. His final tour of duty was at Madigan Army Hospital. After his military career, he was the Chief of Radiology at American Lake Veterans Administration Hospital, Puget Sound, Washington, until his retirement.
Buddy’s interests and knowledge in all things outdoors brought joy and depth of life to all who knew him. He was extremely proud of sailing his 33-foot sailboat, Silverleaf, from Puget Sound to Hawaii with a two-man crew.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents Boyd Curtis Robnett and Nellie Burros Robnett. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Inouye Griffin; children: Monica Griffin Day (Steve), Diane Griffin Clinard (Craig), Christopher Charles Griffin (Julie); and sister, Carole Robnett Stone. He was a beloved “Pappa” to his seven grandchildren - Rachel and Thomas Day, Chad, Adam and Will Clinard, and Sam and Theo Griffin.
The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care provided by St. Clare Hospital and The Franciscan Hospice House. Special thanks to Dr. Sharon Falzgraf and the Geriatric Unit at The American Lake Veterans Administration Hospital for many years of excellent care.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Eudora Baptist Church, Walnut Grove, Missouri.
