Thomas James Ross

Thomas James Ross, of Greenfield, MO, departed this life on Thursday, May 4, 2023, in his home at the age of 82.

He was born in Bridgeport, OK on March 24th, 1941, to Walter James and Ruth Jane (Williams) Ross

Thomas “Tom” grew up in Cement, Oklahoma and later enlisted in the US NAVY where he served in Vietnam. He also served as Fire firefighter with the Springfield Fire Department in Springfield, Missouri Local 152. He was a member of the Assembly of God church where he played piano and organ for several years.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruth Ross; sisters, Nina Faye and Reba; a brother, Raymond Ross; and a sister, Ann Gilliam.

He is survived by two sisters, Merle Ball and Phyllis Clark; five children: Annita S. McBride, V. James Ross, Thomas E. Ross, Charles W. Ross and Janna M. Heinlein; four granddaughters: Deanna, Donna, Hanna, Isabella; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. The family will receive friends on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be shared at www.greenfieldfuneralchapel.com.
