Golden Harvest Days 2023
Golden City, MO hosted its annual Golden Harvest Days Saturday, July 8th and Friday, July 14th and Saturday, July 15th. After closing early on the 14th due to the weather, the festival resumed in full swing the morning of the 15th with the Fire Department Pancake Feed beginning at 6am. A parade began at 9am following which the Great American Bed Race took place along Main Street. The top three placing teams received a place of $75, $50 and $25 respectively. The Golden City Reapers, a team from Golden City Grain and Cotton, won first prize. Team members included Carter (the driver), Chad, Hamilton, Dante and EJ. Additionally there was a $25 prize awarded to The Lightnings (coming from Jasper, MO) for Best Dressed. Lexie (the driver), Crystal, Chloe, Ty and Christian sported matching green tutus. The baby show ran concurrent with the Horseshoe Pitching contest and the Chalk Art contest at 11am. In the Under Six age bracket: Cora (1st place), Carlee (2nd place) and Keith (3rd place). In the 7-12 age bracket: Harley (1st place), Alabama (2nd place) and Wyatt (3rd place). Vendor booths and food trucks were set up and at 1pm, a water slide was free for the children and there was a cornhole tournament. Bingo was also available to play throughout the afternoon. At 4pm, the kids games and bounce houses opened up and live music began.
