Michael Albert Moore, of Springfield, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in the Ash Grove Healthcare Facility at the age of 76.
He was born on September 12, 1949 in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Mike was the third son of Bill and Lidwina Moore. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1967. Mike married his high school sweetheart, Becky Estep, on July 21, 1968. To this union two children were born, Babette R. Moore and Michael B. Moore of Springfield, Missouri.
Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1971 and a master’s degree in engineering management in 1994, both from Missouri S&T.
He was a member of the football team 1967-70 and was a starting member of the Golden Horde defense at nose tackle and middle linebacker. A three-year letter winner, he was selected to the MIAA All-Conference second team and is a member of the 1969 football team inducted into the Miner Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.
A registered professional engineer, he retired in 2010 after a 39-year career with St. Joe Mineral Corp. Finley Engineering Co. and City Utilities of Springfield. In his spare time, he loved restoring vintage muscle cars.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Bill and Lidwina Moore; and one brother, Tony Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Moore; one daughter, Babette Moore; and one son, Michael Moore; two granddaughters, Lauren Duncan and Brook Duncan; two great-grandchildren, King Duncan and Ellie Duncan; one brother, Bill Moore; one sister, Linda Wilkinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Liberty Cemetery in Everton, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Brain Cancer Research.
