Georgia Lea Dodson, 95, of Walnut Grove, Missouri, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025. She was born January 1, 1930, in Dadeville, Missouri, to Lee Daniel and Francis Marion (Morgan) Blakemore.
On October 16, 1946, Georgia and John Dodson were united in marriage and shared over 60 years together, before John’s passing in 2007.
Georgia was a farmer’s wife, lovingly raised her family, and created a wonderful home. She was a seamstress and quiltmaker along with gardening both flowers and vegetables. Georgia also enjoyed the cows on the farm and had milked many throughout her life. Georgia loved her family, and they will greatly miss her.
Georgia is survived by her children: John R. Dodson and wife, Judy; Pamela Krumme and husband, Scott; Lea Blackburn and husband, Mark; Nancy Dougherty and husband, Kelly; Linda Bolin and husband, Wendall; Terry Dodson; Steve Dodson and wife, Rita; numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Stiles-Neill; other family and friends.
Georgia is preceded in death by her husband, John Cyrus Dodson; parents, Lee and Francis Blakemore; grandson, Augustus Cole Dodson; siblings, Mary Francis Melton, Kenneth Alvin Blakemore, and Daniel Morgan Blakemore.
Georgia laid in state from noon until 4 p.m., Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Wilson-Grifin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. A private graveside took place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Integrity Hospice or Missouri Veterans Cemetery and can be left with the funeral home.
