George Looney

George L. Looney 93, of Walnut Grove, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025. He was born April 13, 1932, in Springfield, Missouri, to Brant and Josephine Looney. 
George was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Walnut Grove High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. 
After his time in the military, he drove a truck for Coca-Cola, became a sales representative for Ozark Wholesale Beverage Company, and retired early. 
In his retirement, George and his wife Janice started raising and selling various types of birds. They became known as Birdman and Birdwoman of the Ozarks. 
George enjoyed his hometown, and one could find him at church, delivering meals, having coffee with friends at Mays Mart, supporting his grandchildren in their local sports events, or helping someone in need. George loved his family, friends, and neighbors. 
George is survived by his daughter, Joyce Craig (Steve); stepdaughter, Gayle Coulter McDaniel (Doug); three grandsons, Allan Craig (Kara), Glenn Craig, and Evan Bovee (Casey); four great-granddaughters, Kylie, Piper, and Paige Craig, Wren Bovee; one great-grandson, Asher Bovee; sister, Jo Laine McClure; a host of nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Brant and Josephine Looney; brother, Brant C. Looney; and wife, Janice Looney.
The family would like to thank The CMH staff for their love and care given to George. 
Visitation was 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Greene Lawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove. 
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to First Christian Church of Walnut Grove.
