James Buckley
April 29, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Phillip Buckley, a beloved father, brother, son, and faithful friend, who left us on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the age of 41.
James is survived by his children, James Levi and Nora Ann; his parents, Jimmy and Cheryl Buckley; his sister, Alison Buckley; his brothers, Nathanael Buckley and Charles Buckley; his sister-in-law Lindsay; and nephew Ryan. He is also lovingly remembered by Grandma Wilma Lou Wycuff and many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless cherished friends.
James was a man of few words but big actions. He lived with purpose, quietly and consistently showing up for the people he loved. He would drop everything to lend a hand, never seeking recognition—just always there when it mattered most.
James’s greatest joy in life was being a father. His children, Levi and Nora, were the center of his world. He poured his heart into fatherhood—sharing his passions, his strength, his music, and his love for the outdoors. Whether they were listening to records together, exploring nature, or simply spending quiet time side by side, those moments meant everything to him. He was proud of the people they are becoming, and his love for them was deep, constant, and unconditional.
James had a heart for service. He faithfully played guitar in his church’s worship band, a role that brought him joy and allowed him to express his faith through music.
He often gave his time to causes close to his heart, volunteering with organizations like Rare Breed and Convoy of Hope.
James had a fearless spirit and a love for speed that he inherited from his father—a passion for fast cars and motorcycles that he proudly passed down to his son, Levi. It all began in high school, when he built his hot rod yellow F-100 truck, pouring himself into every detail. That early love grew into a lifelong passion for motorcycles, leading to countless rides and memorable trips, especially those shared with his cousin Scott. He was always up for an adventure and lived with boldness.
Family meant everything to James. He found his greatest happiness in their company, and no family gathering was complete without shared meals, inside jokes, and laughter that filled the room.
Game nights were a favorite, especially the ones where he and his nephew Ryan would team up, feed off each other’s energy, and (more often than not) take things hilariously too far. Their playful banter, catchphrases, and shared humor became a tradition in themselves—just one of the many ways James made life more fun for those around him.
The love he gave and the life he lived will be carried forward by all who knew him. Words can’t express how much James will be missed, but we find peace in John 11:25-26, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”
Visitation was held on Friday, April 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home in Ash Grove, Missouri. A funeral service took place the following morning, Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m., also at Wilson-Griffin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Convoy of Hope, Freeway Ministries, Rare Breed, or a charity of your choosing.
