Roy Edward ‘Eddie’ Long

Roy Edward Long (Eddie), 85, of Ash Grove, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024. He was born on April 21, 1939, at his parents’ home to Thomas Neville and Blanche Ophelia (Aldridge) Long. 
On May 21, 1960, Eddie Long and Sue Pringle were united in marriage and shared over 64 years together. 
Eddie was a student at Yocum grade school and Ash Grove High School. Eddie served in the United States Air Force. He was an active member of Willard First Baptist Church and worked in the nursery and with the youth. 
Eddie enjoyed fishing, coon, quail and pheasant hunting. He also enjoyed fast and slow pitch softball, bowling, gospel music, and sharing his childhood memories. He enjoyed providing fish and fried green tomatoes at his annual fish fry. 
Eddie enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family. He loved teaching his grandkids how to fish, hunt, and was a great storyteller for them. 
Eddie was a loving and caring husband. He and Sue shared a competitive spirit with one another. He will be fondly remembered by his lifelong stories and greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him. 
Eddie is survived by his wife, Sue; children: Teresa Jones and husband, Michael; Angela Wildermuth and husband, Brian; grandchildren: Austin Jones; Evan Jones and wife, Caroline; Bruin Wildermuth and wife, Abby; Ashton Wildermuth and fiancé, Ambrose Broyles; Gunner Wildermuth; great grandchildren, Brixton Wildermuth and Eleanor Jones; brother, Joe Long; sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends. 
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Neville and Blanche Long; brothers, Tom, Elgie, Gene, Harold, Clyde, Ken, Charles, Randy; sisters, Ann, Esther, Jeanie, and Charlene; sisters and brothers-in-law.

The family would like to thank everyone for the support and encouragement while Eddie has been sick. 
Visitation was from 10 a.m. until service time, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Willard First Baptist Church, Willard, Missouri. Funeral services began at 11:30 a.m. at the church, with burial to follow at Ash Grove Cemetery, Ash Grove, Missouri.
