Denzil Kay Decker
November 19, 2024
Denzil Kay Decker, formerly of Arcola, Missouri, went to her heavenly home peacefully early on Monday, November 11, 2024, in the Ash Grove Healthcare Facility at the age of 86.
She was born on November 27, 1937 in Dade County, Missouri, to Benton and Aileen (Carmack) McMasters. Kay married Russell Decker on December 17, 1952 and shared over 55 years together before his passing in November of 2008. They lived all their married life in Arcola.
Kay worked hard on the farm. At one time she milked 26 cows by hand. She always had a big garden. Kay could whip up a good meal at a moments notice and she did that quite often. Pies, cinnamon rolls, and cookies were her favorites.
Kay was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and helped with Team Kids over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benton and Aileen McMasters; an infant son, Mark Decker; her husband, Russell Decker; and her sister, Helen Freedle Myers.
Kay is survived by one son, Todd Decker and wife, Tammy; two daughters, Debby Wallen and husband, Phillip; and Lana Farmer and husband, Ray; six grandkids: Melinda Wright (Dennis), Cara Martin (Ben), Leslie Cunningham (Jason), Aaron Decker (Joanna), Matthew Pummill (Alicia), and Tara Vance (Stephan); 13 great-grandkids: Marcus, Morgan, and Marlie Wright, Maycie and Myah Martin, Joseph, Jaxon, and Jonas Decker, Dalton Cunningham, Colton and Chance Pummill, and Chloe and Poppy Vance; two sisters-in-law, Vickie Decker and Carolyn Decker; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kay spent the last few years of her life at the Ash Grove Healthcare Facility. The staff there became her family and her care there was extremely good.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Main Street Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenfield Cemetery. The family received friends on Friday at 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street Baptist Church or to the Ash Grove Healthcare Facility.
Online condolences may be shared at www.greenfieldfuneralchapel.com. Services were under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
A healthy Dade County requires great community news.
