Betty Lou Jones

Betty Lou Jones quietly passed from earthly life on Wednesday September 25, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation in Lockwood, Missouri, at the age of 94.
Betty was born July 9, 1930, the oldest child of Clyde and Anita Poindexter Jones, near Pilgrim, Missouri. She attended the Pilgrim Rural School through the eighth grade and high school at Everton. She was a member of the class that planted the grove of pine trees that still remain on the school playground today. Betty later completed her GED during night school.
On May 4, 1947, Betty married Charles Bernard Jones in Greenfield, Missouri, and was his faithful companion for over 67 years until his passing on February 14, 2013.   
Betty lived her life as a mother, farm wife, and homemaker. She was an excellent seamstress, cook, and pie baker.  In her later life journey, she became an avid quilt maker, and one year at Christmas she gifted 20 quilts she had completed for her family members.
Betty is survived by her five children:  Wanda Kay (Dewayne) Rout; Patricia Ann (Chuck) Daniel; Charles Richard (Cathy) Jones; Stanley David Jones; and Linda Elaine Frost (Jack).  Also surviving Betty are her loving sister Peggy Jones, and dear cousin Marilyn Fluty.  
Also, Betty was extremely proud of her 13 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren, and on great great-grandchild. She also cherished her nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends..
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; her daughter-in-law Maggie Davis Jones; her parents; Bernard’s parents Willard and Florence Mallory Jones; her sister, Joan “Jobie” Steeley; her sister-in-law Madge Jones Grisham; her brothers-in-law Sanford Steeley, Lawrence Jones, and Don Grisham; and her nephew, Larry Grisham.
Betty was a baptized Christian, and a lifelong member of the Antioch Christian Church. She was actively involved with church operations and related social and community outreach activities, and enjoyed her time serving her God and her community.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Antioch Christian Church. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery.  
The family received friends on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
