Lawrence Philmore “Larry” Rogers, of Lockwood, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in his home at the age of 89.
He was born on January 29, 1935 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Eddie and Clemmie (Smelly) Rogers. Larry attended middle and high school in Tuscaloosa, where he was active in sports.
He received his B.A. and Masters degree from the University of Alabama. Larry taught school for two years in Florida, then he worked for the State of Alabama in the Department of Mental Health at Bryce Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, from 1965 to 2003.
He was united in marriage to Carolyn Lasater on May 11, 2000. Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lockwood.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Eddie and Clemmie; his brother, Johnny; two daughters, Debora and Rhonda; one son, Danny; and one granddaughter, Jennifer.
Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn; two children but not thought of as “step”, David and wife, Bobbie Jo; and Bryan and wife, Jennifer; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Charles; and one niece, Tiffany and husband, Keith.
The family directed and conducted a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Lockwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lockwood Youth Group.
