Walter R. Volkmann

Walter R. Volkmann, age 64 of Greenfield, Missouri, died Saturday June 15, 2024. He was born February 20, 1960, to LeRoy R. Volkmann and Hazel Mae Malone Volkmann in Iowa.

Walt, one of six children, grew up in Iowa farming with the family. He then worked at a packing house with several of his siblings. He ventured to Louisiana and worked maintenance then moved to Colorado doing what he does best running heavy equipment.

Walt was always drawing attention by his amazing skills in equipment. On the side, he ran a successful snowplow business in the winter.

Walt was not afraid of work and never gave up on fixing something till he won.

He and his wife, Nadine, moved to Missouri to own and operate Southwinds Motel. Walt made a lot of friends and had plenty of fish. They were just days away from their retirement when he was called by the Lord.

Walt is survived by five brothers and sisters: Linda, Larry, David, Mary and Donna; four grandchildren: Alex, Austin, Blake and Kylie. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Becky Volkmann.

Services for the family were held July 13, 2024 in Battle Creek, Iowa.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Ruark East Pavilion at 11 a.m. to enjoy a BBQ and cold beverage. Please let us know if you plan on attending so we can make sure we have enough food. Call or text 417-827-9288
