William Elwayne ‘Billy Wayne’ Dodson

William Elwayne “Billy Wayne” Dodson, of Dadeville, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, May 6, 2024, in the Ash Grove Healthcare Facility at the age of 96.

He was born on June 10, 1927 in Dade County, Missouri, to William Willis and Mary Blanche (King) Dodson. Billy Wayne graduated from Dadeville High School.

He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

Billy Wayne was united in marriage to Willa Mae Kirby on April 28, 1945 in Columbus, Kansas. He was member of the Dadeville Baptist Church.

Billy Wayne served as secretary for the Dadeville School Board for many years. He had owned and contracted a school bus for the school. Billy Wayne had worked as mechanic for Wilkinson Auto in Ash Grove. He enjoyed manicuring his lawn and growing tomatoes.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Blanche Dodson; his wife, Willa Mae Dodson; an infant son, William Eugene Dodson; three brothers: John Dodson, Elwood Dodson, and Buddy Dodson; and two sisters, Ida Brewer and Mary Strange.

Survivors include two sons: Wayne Dodson and wife, Brenda, of Everton, Missouri and Richard Dodson and wife, Eileen, of Republic, Missouri; one daughter, Rebecca Melton and husband, Tommy, of Ash Grove, Missouri; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Dadeville Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Dadeville Masonic Cemetery.

The family received friends on Friday at 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
