Billy Ervin Jones, age 92, of Miller, Missouri, passed away at 9:18 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born February 4, 1932, in Niota, Illinois, the son of John and Ruth (Burns) Jones.

Billy was a 1950 graduate of Miller High School, in Miller, Missouri. He served for 20 years in the United States Air Force and was an engineer power plant employee for Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, for 20 years.

He loved to play golf and played into his 90’s and was a member of the Lockwood Golf League in Lockwood, Missouri. Billy was also a member of the Family of Christ church in Mount Vernon, Missouri.

On June 7, 1954, he married Margaret Ann Johnson, in Tacoma, Washington.

Billy is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marge; two daughters, Cynthia Capehart of Springfield, Missouri, and Linda Eaton, of Canton, Kansas; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, John, and Ruth; one son, Steven Jones; one sister, Melba Carrington and four brothers, John, George, Ray, and Albert Jones.

A graveside service under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
