Judy Wright

March 12, 2023

Judy Wright of Stockton, MO, born to Raymond Phillip Dietrich Schaefer and Louvicy Elizabeth (Lola) Schaefer (Offutt) on September 20, 1941, departed this life on March 8, 2023 in Stockton, MO. She was born and raised in rural Dade County, receiving Christ as her Lord and Savior in her youth, remaining his loyal servant until she passed.

The youngest of four, and a daughter of German immigrants, Judy was heavily influenced by the values and virtues instilled by her upbringing, developing an affection and fondness for raising and caring for family. Judy graduated from Lockwood High School (Missouri) in 1959 and soon married Delbert Wright of Fair Play, Missouri (the Needmore area). Shortly thereafter, they moved and settled near Kansas City where Judy began working for Western Electric (AT&T).

Although retiring from AT&T some 29 years later, Judy’s greatest joy was caring for her family; raising her two children, Angela Kay and Philip Lee, and dutifully caring for her husband until he passed in 2015. This journey led her to Harrisonville, MO before settling in Adrian, MO in 1974 where she remained for 42 years. Upon her husband’s passing, Judy embarked on her final adventure, settling into her Stockton home where she could more readily spend time watching and experiencing her many grandkids and great-grandkids activities and accomplishments.

Over the years, Judy enjoyed many crafts and hobbies, spending much of her time in her younger years sewing clothes for her family, and eventually picking up other pursuits such as tole painting, ceramics and macramé. She eventually settled on crocheting as her hobby of choice.

One of Judy’s greatest joys was the family get-together, where she lovingly labored to prepare large meals which everyone enjoyed; large meals in which no one left hungry. The Christmas season will be affectionately remembered as a time in which Judy created numerous Christmas candies which she happily shared with family and acquaintances. That candy, much like its maker, will never be replaced.

Survivors include: Two children, Angie Fanning of Lamar, MO, and Phil Wright and wife Shannon of Shawnee, KS; four grandchildren, Amber Fidler and husband Jerry of Stockton, MO, Brian Simpson and wife Cortney of Stockton, MO, Jessi Thomas and husband Adam of Oronogo, MO, and Schaefer Lynn Wright of Shawnee, KS. In addition, she leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her siblings, Beatrice, Evonne and Richard; and a granddaughter, Bowen Leigh Wright.

Services will be held at Brumback Funeral Home on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 2:00pm, with a brief visitation before the service, beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will be at Lindley Prairie Cemetery in Cedar County, MO.
