Lassie Parlee Donaldson

Lassie Parlee Donaldson, of Greenfield, Missouri, passed away on the morning of June 29, 2022 from natural causes at the Dade County Nursing Home at the age of 98.

Lassie was born to the Reverend Tom and Daisy Procter in Miller, Missouri, on February 7, 1924. Tom Procter was a Baptist preacher with congregations in Missouri and Kansas but the family spent most of their lives in and around Greenfield.

When Lassie was old enough to attend school, she and her family moved from Miller to Greenfield. Lassie graduated from Greenfield High School in 1942. After graduation, she went to Wichita, Kansas and worked as a Key Punch operator until after the end of WWII.

Lassie moved back to Greenfield where she met and married Neal Donaldson in 1951. Neal was the editor and publisher of the Dade County Advocate, a weekly newspaper, and also had a column in the Vedette.

Lassie and Neal moved back to Wichita and adopted a son, Greg. They attended the Westside Baptist Church. Neal became employed with Boeing and Lassie worked in a variety of employment positions but her favorite and last job was helping to select interior paints and wallpapers for customers of a local paint store.

After the passing of Neal in 2002 and son Greg, Lassie moved from Wichita to be with her grandsons in Washington State. In 2018, Lassie moved back to Greenfield and became a resident of the Residential Care Facility at Dade County Nursing Home.

Lassie was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Naomi and Alma Wagner; two brothers, Spencer and Winston Procter; husband, Neal; son, Greg; and grandson, Shawn Donaldson. Surviving is her grandson, Brandon Donaldson; three great-grandchildren of Kent, Washington; a great-grandson of Spokane, Washington; a nephew, Robert Wagner of Seattle, Washington; a niece, Betty Emich of East Petersburg, Pennsylvania; and a niece, Vic Lollar of Greenfield.

Graveside services, under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel, will be held at the Greenfield Cemetery on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Courts Jetton of Main Street Baptist Church officiating.
