James “Jim” Lowell Garrison

James “Jim” Lowell Garrison, 73, of Lockwood, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 5:12 a.m. in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.

Jim was born on February 21, 1948, in Lockwood, Missouri, to Lowell and Geraldine Garrison. Jim graduated from Lockwood High School, Class of 1966. He continued his education at Missouri State University graduating with a degree in accounting. Jim financed his education by working at KOLR 10 in the news room support department.
Upon graduation, Jim went to work for the U.S. Government, Department of Army, in the position of compliance auditor. After several years with the Department of Army, he transferred to the Veteran Administration Compliance Division. He retired with 35 years of service.
While employed with the Veterans Administration, Jim was presented the Award for Valor, Office of Inspector General for rescuing a fellow auditor from being victimized in her hotel room.
Jim enjoyed traveling, golf and spending time with his family, particularly his many nieces and nephews, but his greatest joy was watching his great nieces and nephews play sports. He was a faithful blood donor and he elected to donate his organs and tissue upon death. Jim was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.
One of Jim’s favorite adventures was playing a round of golf with Greg Norman at Pebble Beach, California, after winning a Chesebrough-Ponds contest. Jim loved to tell stories about his travels and quiz his great nieces and nephews on historical events.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carole Ann Abbiatti; great-great niece and nephew Tierney and Aiden Paul Abbiatti.
Survivors include his brother-in-law, Paul Abbiatti, Lockwood; two nieces Debra Renfro and husband, Randy of Kansas City and Nancy Healy and husband, Joel of Kansas City; and two nephews, Mark Abbiatti and wife, Pattie, of Lockwood and Greg Abbiatti and wife Sharon, of Lockwood; nine great- nieces and nephews, Whitney Renfro, Ryan Abbiatti, Jason Abbiatti, Adam Abbiatti, Rendi Pfannenstiel, Brandi Hume, Blake Abbiatti, Drew Healy and Amos Healy; and 12 great-great nieces and nephews, Gavin and Chloe Abbiatti, Hadley and Tatum Abbiatti, Avery Abbiatti, JP Hillman, Lincoln, Miles and Kynlee Pfannenstiel, Silas and Bella Hume and Macklin Abbiatti and other relatives and friends.

Private graveside services were held Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Lockwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Lockwood Youth Sports Program. Services were under the care of the Lockwood Funeral Chapel.
