Jana Carol Farmer

October 15, 2020

Jana Carol Farmer, of Greenfield, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the age of 67.

She was born on July 13, 1953, to Truman and Dixie Farmer. She was the oldest of three Farmer girls. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1971 and attended Queen City Beauty School where she got her degree in cosmetology.

Jana is survived by her parents, Truman and Dixie Farmer; her sisters: Monda Jeffreys and her husband, Ron Jeffreys; and Agena Farmer; her nephew, Paul Jeffreys and wife, Krista; her two great nephews, Hunter and wife, Princess Jeffreys; and Noah Jeffreys. She loved them deeply and would fight for them at the drop of a hat. She especially enjoyed championing her buddy, Sweet Pea (the dachshund).

She worked at several different beauty shops but spent most of her life working at the Dade County Nursing Home where she worked for over 40 years. She had been a candy striper to help care for patients there when it first opened.
There wasn’t a job there that she hadn’t done by the time she retired in 2019. She was the best source for knowing what someone’s name was and who was in their family. Her special gift was to champion the residents and their families when they needed support. You could hear her voice coming down the hall and you knew that when she got to your door she would have a smile to brighten your day. She had an infectious laugh and a lovely twinkle in her eyes.

She was baptized into the body of Christ at the First Christian Church in Greenfield at a young age. Jana always loved Jesus. When she was very young, she and her sisters had tea parties on the front porch and Jana always prayed ending it by saying “and I meant it.”

Jana was everyone’s friend. She didn’t know a stranger and took great joy in picking a fight with those that she cared for. She lived a good life and chose to be happy regardless of the circumstances. We will miss her greatly and look forward to hearing her laugh again in heaven.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020, in Greenfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenfield Cemetery.
