Additional Case of COVID-19 Confirmed in Dade County, Total Now 7

The Dade County Health Department announced late Tuesday night, July 14, that another case of COVID-19 had been confirmed in the county, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 7.

The affected individual is currently isolating in their home, and the DCHD will be reaching out to any close contacts of the individual whom may have been exposed to the Coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Guidance will be provided to them on to monitor themselves and others in their care for symptoms and quarantine procedures if needed.

To protect the privacy of the affected individual, DCHD Administrator Pamela Allen said that no potentially personally identifiable information, including geographic, will be released. The individual is employed at a location outside of Dade County and did not visit any public locations in Dade County while they were possibly contagious.

Allen said that COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and that it spreads between people who are in close contact with one another. 

“As a community, we must continue working hard at staying home, wearing masks, and keeping a physical distance from others,” said Allen. "It is very important for anyone who is sick to stay home, away from other people, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We must each do our part to protect everyone in our community.”
