Gladys Lucille Stevenson

Gladys Lucille Stevenson, age 95, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 12:56 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at her home. She was born August 14, 1927, in Anderson, Missouri, the daughter of Charlie Edward and Nellie May (Green) Yeager.

Gladys was a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Hemet Valley Hospital in Hemet California. She moved to Mt. Vernon 15 years ago from California. She was a member of the Eastern Star, loved square dancing, bowling and golf and was of the Methodist faith.

On May 7, 1977, she married Robert Stevenson in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2000.

Gladys is survived by five daughters, Mary Hand and her husband, Jim, of Ash Grove, Missouri, Dorothy Pedrola and her husband, Tom, of Camdenton, Missouri, Patti Bartlett of Linn Creek, Missouri, Loretta Stevenson and her husband, John Baker, of California and Shirley Lazzara of Washington; two sons, Jack Chappell and his wife, Barbara, of Hemet, California and Bobby Chappell of Lebanon, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie, and Nellie; her husband, Robert; two grandsons, Bobby Chappell, Jr., and Joe Cranfill; one great-granddaughter, Desirae Chappell; four sisters, Lillian Everett, Lela Wunschel, Viola Yeager, and Virginia Yeager and four brothers, Louis, Ralph, Boyd, and Floyd Yeager.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the American Breast Cancer Foundation in care of the funeral home.
