Melvin and Naomi Eggerman

After brief illnesses, Naomi Eggerman, 84, passed away on November 9, 2020 and her husband Melvin Eggerman, 90, passed away two days later on November 11, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehab in Lockwood, Missouri.

Naomi was born April 13, 1936 in Purdy, Missouri, to Emil and Bertha (Casper) Schad. Melvin was born in Lockwood, Missouri, on March 9, 1930 to Martin and Edna (Schilling) Eggerman. They were united in marriage on June 10, 1956 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stones Prairie, Missouri.

They are survived by their three children: Mike Eggerman (Kim), of Carlyle, Illinois; Sharon Abbiatti (Greg), of Lockwood, Missouri; and Carol Schriver (Michael) of Nixa, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Rendi Pfannenstiel (Nick), Brandi Hume (Frank), Samuel Schriver, Jared Eggerman (Laura), Blake Abbiatti (Bekah), Adam Eggerman, Nicholas Schriver, and Claire Eggerman; seven great-grandchildren: Lincoln Pfannenstiel, Miles Pfannenstiel, Kynlee Pfannenstiel, Silas Hume, Bella Hume, Macklin Abbiatti, and Caleb Eggerman. They are also survived by Naomi’s brother, Alvin Schad (Maxine) and brother-in-law Ralph Dennis.

In addition to their parents, Naomi was preceded in death by stepmothers, Frieda and Lottie; infant brother, Donald; Adolph Schad and wife, Lila; sister, Dorothy Dennis; and sister-in-law, Jean Schad. Melvin was preceded in death by infant brother, Merlin.

Naomi attended St. John’s Lutheran College in Winfield, Kansas. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood, Missouri, where she belonged to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Naomi was a member of the Missouri Homemakers Club, the Lockwood American Legion Auxiliary, and the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Auxiliary. She served a number of years as a 4-H Leader in Dade County.

Melvin was also a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served the congregation in numerous positions. After serving his country in the Korean Conflict, Melvin came home to a lifelong occupation of farming. Melvin was a member of the American Legion, and served on various boards, including Lutheran Fire and Lightning, Lockwood Farmers Exchange, and Dade County Hospital. He served as an insurance agent for over 40 years and cherished the time he spent with his fellow board members.

After their retirement, Melvin and Naomi enjoyed bus tours to all corners of the United States. They cherished the time they spent with their family, attending their grandchildren’s activities and sporting events, and shared their love of St Louis Cardinal baseball.

Private services for the family were held gravesite at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery on Sunday, November 15, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be extended to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood and the Lockwood American Legion Post 372. Arrangements were under the care Lockwood Funeral Chapel.
