Buddy King Dodson

Buddy King Dodson, of Dadeville, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the age of 91.

He was born on December 30, 1932 in Dade County, Missouri, to Will and Blanche (King) Dodson. Buddy graduated from Dadeville High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University.

Upon graduating from SMSU, he attended the University of Florida working upon a Masters Degree. He was employed by Macdonald Air Craft Corp for a short time after which he entered the Peace Corps and was sent to the Dominican Republic.

After his years in the Peace Corps, Buddy was offered a position with the U.S. State Department, Foreign Service as an aide administrator. He spent 40 years working in Peru, Tunisia, South Africa, and two smaller African countries. He spoke five languages.

Upon retiring, he purchased a farm on Sac River near Dadeville, Missouri, where he spent his remaining years.

He is preceded by his parents, Will and Blanche Dodson, in death along with two sisters, Ida Brewer and Mary Strange; two brothers, Elwood and John; and two nephews, Scott Strange and Denny Brewer.

He is survived by one brother, William E. Dodson; one sister-in-law, Georgia Lee Dodson, both from Dadeville, Missouri; fifteen nephews and nieces; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.

Graveside services were held Monday, March 18, 2024, at Bona Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dadeville School District for educational purposes.
